Opening and Closing Dates

Greek Village follows an opening and closing schedule based upon the NC State University Academic Calendar

Opening and closing policy

Opening and closing policy applies to all facilities in Greek Village. All residents are required to abide by the dates, times, processes, and procedures outlined in the opening and closing policy.

  • Opening and closing dates and times refer to when Greek Village facilities open and close. Residents receive instructions related to Greek Village Move-In and Greek Village Move-Out processes, which include both check-in and check-out appointments that are individually scheduled
  • Residents are not permitted in Greek Village facilities when they are closed without expressed permission from the Associate Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life and their Alumni/ae House Corporation
  • Entering the Chapter House without prior approval when houses are closed is considered trespassing and in violation of both Greek Village Community Standards and the Code of Student Conduct. Failure to comply with the Greek Village opening/closing schedule and regulations may result in fines and/or sanctions.
  • Residents must follow all outlined opening and closing procedures, including but not limited to: scheduling check-in and check-out appointments, cleaning residential room and preparing facility for closing, and moving-out by the posted deadline
  • Greek Village residents receive additional details regarding opening and closing to their ncsu.edu email prior to each opening and closing
  • Opening and closing dates outlined below are the required minimums for all Greek Village facilities. Privately-owned facilities may have additional periods of closure. Consult your house corporation or House Director for additional details
    • All Greek Village facilities close for the following university breaks: Thanksgiving Holiday, Winter Break, and Spring Break. Select Greek Village facilities close for Fall Break.
    • Greek Village Apartments is a 12-month agreement and is the only Greek Village facility to remain open in summer

Fall 2025

Check-in appointments are required for all Greek Village residents to begin the move-in process

  • Saturday, August 9 – Sunday, August 10: Sorority houses and university-owned Greek Village facilities open at 8 a.m. by appointment
    • Panhellenic Association Recruitment Work Week: Monday, August 11 through Friday, August 15
    • Monday, August 18 is the first day of classes
  • Saturday, August 16 – Sunday, August 17: Fraternity houses open at 8 a.m. by appointment
    • Fraternity chapter officers may request early arrival August 9 – August 10. House Corporations will review and approve all early arrival requests.
    • Monday, August 18 is the first day of classes
  • Wednesday, November 26: all Greek Village communities CLOSE at 10 a.m. for Thanksgiving Break for ALL RESIDENTS
  • Sunday, November 30: all Greek Village communities REOPEN at noon from Thanksgiving Break for ALL RESIDENTS 
  • Thursday, December 11: Greek Village communities CLOSE at 10 a.m. for Semester Break for ALL RESIDENTS
    • Tuesday, December 2 is the last day of classes
    • Thursday, December 4 – Wednesday, December 10 is Final Exams Week
    • Residents should check out no later than 24 hours after their last examination

Spring 2026

  • Saturday, January 10: All Greek Village communities open at noon by appointment
    • Monday, January 12 is the first day of classes
  • Saturday March 14: Greek Village communities CLOSE at 10 a.m. for SPRING BREAK for ALL RESIDENTS
  • Sunday, March 22: Greek Village communities REOPEN at noon from SPRING BREAK for ALL RESIDENTS 
  • Thursday, May 7: communities CLOSE at 10 a.m. Greek Village Apartments remains open for summer for students that have completed the 12-month room agreement option or who have applied for summer break housing at Greek Village Apartments
    • Tuesday, April 28 is the last day of classes
    • Thursday, April 30 – Wednesday, May 6 is Final Exams Week – Residents are required to check out no later than 24 hours after their last examination
    • Saturday, May 9 is Spring Commencement
    • Sunday, May 10 – Greek Village residents verified as graduating students for May 2026 will be approved to check-out of their facility by Sunday, May 10 at 10 a.m.

Summer 2026

  • Thursday, May 7: Greek Village Apartments remains open for summer break
    • Greek Village Apartments remains open for summer for students that have completed the 12-month room agreement option or who have applied for summer break housing at Greek Village Apartments
    • Greek Village Apartments residents do not need to be enrolled in Summer I and Summer II to live at Greek Village Apartments through the summer
  • Thursday, July 30: Greek Village Apartments CLOSE at 10 a.m. for ALL RESIDENTS
    • Residents returning to Greek Village Apartments for Fall 2026 to the same apartment unit are required to pack personal belongings in bathrooms and kitchens as well as remove personal belongings from all surfaces in living room and bedrooms to prepare for deep cleaning and facility maintenance. Personal belongings may remain packed in the center of the room in their apartment unit

Fall 2026

  • Thursday, December 10: Greek Village communities CLOSE at 10 a.m. for Semester Break for ALL RESIDENTS
    • Tuesday, December 1 is the last day of classes
    • Thursday, December 3 – Wednesday, December 9 is Final Exams Week
    • Residents should check out no later than 24 hours after their last examination
    • Commencement is Saturday, December 12 and verified graduating students may request late check-out. Late check-out is Sunday, December 13 at 10 a.m.

Spring 2027

  • Saturday, January 9: All Greek Village communities open at noon by appointment
    • Monday, January 11 is the first day of classes
  • Saturday March 13: Greek Village communities CLOSE at 10 a.m. for SPRING BREAK for ALL RESIDENTS
  • Sunday, March 21: Greek Village communities REOPEN at noon from SPRING BREAK for ALL RESIDENTS 
  • Thursday, May 6: communities CLOSE at 10 a.m. Greek Village Apartments remains open for summer for students that have completed the 12-month room agreement option or who have applied for summer break housing at Greek Village Apartments
    • Tuesday, April 27 is the last day of classes
    • Thursday, April 29 – Wednesday, May 5 is Final Exams Week – Residents are required to check out no later than 24 hours after their last examination
    • Saturday, May 8 is Spring Commencement
    • Sunday, May 9 – Greek Village residents verified as graduating students for May 2027 will be approved to check-out of their facility by Sunday, May 9 at 10 a.m.

Summer 2027

  • Thursday, May 6: Greek Village Apartments remains open for summer break
    • Greek Village Apartments remains open for summer for students that have completed the 12-month room agreement option or who have applied for summer break housing at Greek Village Apartments
    • Greek Village Apartments residents do not need to be enrolled in Summer I and Summer II to live at Greek Village Apartments through the summer
