Background: Shelly is a Delta Zeta from Southern Illinois University. Shelly earned her Master’s Degree from SIUC and worked at Bowling Green State University coordinating Leadership Programs, Sorority Housing and advising the NPHC for three years before joining the NC State staff in the Fall of 2001 as Associate Director of Greek Life. In July of 2013, she was appointed Interim Director of Greek Life. She was promoted to the role of Director of Greek Life in May 2014. She was elected to the Executive Board for the Association of Fraternity|Sorority Advisors for 3 terms and served as the 2012 President.

Background: Michael received his Master’s of Counselor Education from Clemson University. Prior to that, he graduated from Furman University in Greenville, SC where he joined Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Michael has worked in fraternity and sorority life at Bowling Green State University and Virginia Tech developing living and learning communities through leadership and risk education, as well as managing fraternity and sorority housing. Michael is originally from Chicago.

Background: Julie is a graduate of James Madison University, where she became a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity. She received a Master of Education in College Student Affairs Administration from the University of Georgia. Julie has worked professionally in fraternity and sorority life for six years. Prior to joining the staff at NC State, she worked as the Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life at George Mason University and the Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority Involvement at the University of Montana.

Background: Hector is a Beta Theta Pi from Florida International University and is originally from Miami, Florida. Hector earned his Master of Science Degree in College Student Personnel Administration from Illinois State University. Prior to joining the team at NC State, he worked as a Coordinator of Sorority and Fraternity Life at Emory University. Additionally, he is a member of the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). When he is away from work, he enjoys traveling, playing with his dog, and spending time with his family.

Background: Byron Harris is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Byron is a recent graduate of the College Student Affairs Program at Rutgers University- New Brunswick. A Raleigh native, he is excited to return home to begin his professional career.

Background: Emily graduated from William & Mary in 2020, where she joined Kappa Delta Sorority. Her experience inspired her to continue working with Fraternity and Sorority Life to create caring, passionate communities for students. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Government and is now pursuing her Masters of Higher Education Administration at NC State. A Massachusetts native, Emily and her family relocated to the Raleigh area in 2016, where she first encountered NC State. She’s so excited to work with students as a Graduate Assistant with Fraternity and Sorority Life!

Background: Cassandra comes to NC State after serving five years as the Executive Assistant to the Director of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. She brings 20+ years of business experience to Fraternity and Sorority Life. Before her role at the museum, she worked as an office administrator in the Budget, Planning and Analysis division of the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources, now DEQ. Her background includes years in elementary education and training in business analytics and accounting. When she is away from work, she enjoys traveling, relaxing with a good book, and spending time with her family.
Background: Janet graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, Phi Beta Kappa, with a degree in Linguistics. Most recently, Janet served as the House Director at Alpha Chi Omega at the Ohio State University for five years. They initiated her into membership in 2014. Prior to her time as a house director, she lived in Highlands, North Carolina, where she was a real estate broker. Janet has two daughters with multiple degrees in higher education, including two from NC State. In her spare time, Janet is involved in P.E.O. International,
a philanthropic educational organization raising millions of dollars for scholarships for women’s education.
Background: Shanci is a South Florida native dedicated to educational equity. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a master’s degree in Higher Education Policy. Shanci previously worked at Duke University, where she served as a Student Development Coordinator for three years. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Curriculum Instruction & Design. She is a published author (1978), a member of Sigma Tau Delta, and mom of two Yorkies – Boss and Juicy.
Kappa Alpha Theta
Background: Ashley is a South Carolina native with a professional background as a mental health professional. She graduated from South Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and then completed her masters at Saybrook University in Counseling. Ashley is currently a PhD student at NCSU, majoring in Counselor Education. She previously worked as a clinical counselor at the NCSU Counseling Center and before that worked as a counselor at a residential therapeutic boarding school. She is a published author, Words for Warning (2013); The Miseducation of the Privileged (2018), a member of the Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International (2020), and a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated (2012). In her free time, Ashley enjoys writing and making therapeutic candles.
Lambda Chi Alpha
Background: Robin received her B.A. in Psychology at American University. While at American she was an R.A. and an intern at the National Association of Women Deans, Administrators and Counselors. Robin attended the University of Connecticut for her M.A. in Higher Education Administration. Here she worked in Residential Life, first as a Head Resident and then as an Area Coordinator supervising Head Residents and RAs. Robin comes to us after being a House Director for six years at the Alpha Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta at Syracuse University. Prior to working as a House Director Robin owned and operated her bed & breakfast on Nantucket Island, MA. While on Nantucket Island Robin served as President of the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce and Player Agent for Nantucket Island Little League.
Background: Sharon graduated with a Bachelors in Applied Science with an Organizational Leadership and Management Emphasis from the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, and an Associates in Public Administration from Maricopa CC, Tempe, AZ. She is currently working on her Photography Degree. She arrived from Austin, Texas after serving as a House Director and various other chapters located in Fayetteville, AR., Tucson, AZ., San Diego, CA., & Boulder, CO. Prior to Fraternity and Sorority Life, she worked for the State of Arizona and Arizona State University. Sharon is the proud mother of 4 children and 3 grandchildren and enjoys photography, road-tripping/traveling, baking, creating and sewing.
Sigma Phi Epsilon
Background: Kip graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Business. A member of Beta Theta Pi, he currently serves as a volunteer and previously consulted for the fraternity. Most recently, Kip served as a fundraising consultant, specializing in fraternity capital campaigns, consulting, and alumni relations. Prior to returning to Raleigh, Kip has lived in Louisiana, Kansas and most recently Chicago. Married to an NC State Alumna and father to a sweet Australian Shepherd Mix who rescued us, he enjoys long walks with his family, exercising, and traveling.
Zeta Tau Alpha
Background: Shanice is a Charlotte native. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and again with her Masters degree in Liberal Studies focusing in Critical Race Theory in Children’s Literature. While in attendance at UNCC, Shanice worked as a Teaching and Research Assistant in the Communications department, an Administrative Graduate Assistant in Housing and Resident Life, and as a Graduate Assistant in Financial Aid. She is a member of Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Incorporated (the first multicultural sorority in the nation) and is serving as Secretary for the national graduate chapter board. In her free time, Shanice enjoys writing, reading, and painting.

Background: DeVanté graduated from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with his Bachelor of Arts degree in French and German. At UNCC, he served as a Resident Advisor, Orientation Counselor, and Program Coordinator for the Campus Activities Board. He also joined Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity serving in various leadership roles both within his chapter and council. Currently, DeVanté is pursuing his Masters in Higher Education Administration at NC State. In addition to his role as a CRD, he also serves, at UNC Chapel Hill, as the Graduate Assistant for Fraternity and Sorority Life.

Background: Paul graduated from The University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2019 with a degree in Political Science. During his time at UNCW, Paul served as a Resident Assistant and held various other leadership roles. Paul will be pursuing his Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration. Outside of the Greek Village Paul also serves as a Graduate Assistant for NC State’s EcoVillage.

Background: Samantha is from Chantilly, Virginia. Samantha graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2019 with a degree in Biology and minors in Leadership Studies & Business Administration. During her undergraduate career, she gained experience in student activities, orientation, Residence Life, and leadership development and held many campus leadership positions. After graduating, Samantha spent a year working at her alma mater in the President’s Leadership Program, focusing on community service and experiential learning. Samantha is now pursuing her Masters of Education in Higher Education Administration here at NC State.

Background: Lindsay graduated from Christopher Newport University with a B.A. in Psychology and minors in Leadership Studies & Childhood Studies. During her undergraduate career, she joined Delta Gamma Fraternity where she served in various director roles, served Panhellenic as a recruitment counselor, and held many other campus leadership positions. In her free time she volunteers with Delta Gamma as a chapter adviser at three institutions. Lindsay is a second-year pursuing her Masters of Education in Higher Education Administration here at NC State. In addition to being a Chapter Resident Director, she serves as the University Housing Graduate Assistant for Residential Learning.
