We’ve Moved

The Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life at NC State (formerly the Department of Greek Life) has made some changes to serve students better. Starting June 1, you’ll see a new look, new structure, and new home for our department. Throughout all of these changes we look forward to the opportunity to continue existing relationships and forge new ones.

New Look

The most obvious and notable change for our department is its new name. We are moving away from the Department of Greek Life. Our name confirms our commitment to aligning our work with professional standards and to enhance our relationships with campus, local, and international partners.

New Structure

Our new staff structure will allow us to increase our capacity to provide impactful fraternity and sorority experiences through specialized focus.  Under the leadership of Shelly Brown Dobek, Director, chapter services will be led by Christopher Jefferson, Associate Director, council and community development led by Raven Whitley, Assistant Director, and Greek housing led by Josh Welch, Associate Director.  Two Graduate Advisors will continue to offer council support, our Coordinator, Mary Medina, will provide chapter support, and of course Mitzi Horton, will provide administrative support. Our staff has grown exponentially, and we see this growth as necessary to provide better service to individual members, their chapters, advisors, and the overall fraternity and sorority community.

New Home

We are moving to a new location on campus in the upcoming weeks. The Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life will join a number of other campus partners such as, Multicultural Student Affairs, the Women’s Center, GLBT Center, Student Involvement, and the Center for Student Leadership, Ethics and Public Service in the newly renovated Talley Student Union. We are excited about the opportunity to be a part of what will become a hub for student-life experiences here at NC State.
