Order of Omega to Tap 90 New Members

Eighty-five undergraduate students have been selected to join the Order of Omega and will be tapped in a formal ceremony at the annual Standards of Excellence and Order of Omega Awards Ceremony on Monday, October 19th.  Membership represents the top 3% of the Fraternity and Sorority community at NC State.  Candidates were selected based on their scholarship, leadership and service.

The purpose of The Order of Omega is threefold:

First, to recognize those students who have attained a high standard of leadership in inter-Greek activities, to encourage them to continue along this line, and to inspire others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment.

Second, to bring together the most representative fraternity and sorority members, and to create an organization which will help mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate affairs.

Third, to bring together members of the faculty, alumni, and student members of the institution’s fraternities and sororities on a basis of mutual interest, understanding, and cooperation.

In addition to the 85 undergraduate men and women, four honorary initiates are being recognized for their contribution to the FSL community.

  • Justine Hollingshead, Division of Academic and Student Affairs
  • Lt. William Davis, University Police
  • Otis McGresham, Women’s Center
  • Mary Medina, Fraternity and Sorority Life
  • Mitzi Horton, Fraternity and Sorority Life
